For nineteen years, Princess Isha of Naltain believed she was broken.
Born into one of the most powerful Solar bloodlines in Erstonia, she should have inherited magic long ago. Instead, she has spent her life beneath endless sunshine while whispers spread through court that her mother's heir may be unfit to rule.
When the ruthless King of Gardon demands peace negotiations, Isha is sent in her parents' place to secure the release of the captured royal families and prevent a war that has consumed the continent for decades.
She never reaches the negotiating table.
Betrayed at the gates of the enemy kingdom, Isha is dragged into the darkness beneath Gardon's palace and forgotten.
But in the place where sunlight cannot reach, something unexpected awakens.
The magic rising within her belongs to one of the rare Moon bloodlines—a gift hidden for years beneath the brilliance of her homeland. As her powers grow, so does a terrifying realization: the person she believed herself to be may never have existed at all.
Above her prison, Prince Xavier Kayne serves the very king responsible for her suffering. A warrior, assassin, and heir to a legacy drenched in blood, Xavier has spent years concealing dangerous secrets while quietly resisting his father's brutal reign.
When their paths collide, they uncover truths capable of reshaping kingdoms, challenging centuries of belief, and destroying everything the world understands about light and darkness.
Because some wars are not fought over crowns.
They are fought over who gets to decide who you become.
When the Darkness Answered is the first installment in an epic fantasy romance featuring hidden magic, political intrigue, slow-burn romance, deadly assassins, found family, and a battle for the soul of a world balanced between sun and shadow.
